Client came to us seeking assistance with paying his rent. The client has a great many medical issues which stem from his need for a new liver. One of the qualification criteria for obtaining a transplant is a safe and stable environment for recovery after the procedure. We worked with several agencies and were able to get some help with his rent.

Client was behind several years on his Personal Property Taxes, to the point that the County had placed a “stop” action on his vehicle. He was unable to register the car, he couldn’t drive it, and he couldn’t sell it.
We were able to get him processed for Personal Property Tax Exemption, but that was applicable for future years and did not address his past tax obligation.
We worked through several different agencies and were able to find an agency that would provide partial support. We continued working through several agencies and were finally able to obtain the remaining funds necessary to pay his tax obligation.

Johnnie participates in the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. He is scheduled to move into an apartment and needs assistance with moving his belongings. Normally, NOVA Veterans Association would mobilize a group of volunteers to assist. However, due to the changes associated with the covid-19 pandemic we are not able to have a group of volunteers work together for this activity. Support staff is working to find a creative solution for Johnnie.
